Emergency planning
The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 defines Liverpool Primary Care Trust (PCT) as a Category 1 responder to a local emergency. This means that in partnership with local authorities, emergency services and other health bodies, we are part of the first line of response in any emergency affecting our population.
The Department of Health NHS Emergency Planning Guidance 2005 identifies that Local Resilience Forums based on police force areas should be established to encourage multiagency cooperation at a local level. Within the Merseyside area, Liverpool PCT is a member of the Merseyside Resilience Forum (MRF) representing all NHS organisations in Merseyside.
Further Information
Liverpool PCT and our partners in the Merseyside Resilience Forum have launched a brand new website with advice about how to prepare yourself, your family or your business in case of emergencies, such as severe weather, threats to public health or major fire.
The website Merseyside Prepared contains basic information about how to prepare for emergencies as well as web links to the different partners involved in the Resilience Forum. There is a place where you can email comments or ask for further information.
The Government has produced a website to assist you in preparing for emergencies. The website contains a booklet that provides practical, common sense advice on how to prepare for emergencies, in several languages. Please click here to view the website.
