Communicating during an emergency

During an incident the Emergency Services will use local radio stations to communicate to the city's population.

During most major emergencies and particularly chemical related major emergencies, the initial instructions from the emergency services is for residents in an affected area to:

• Go immediately indoors
• Close all windows
• Avoid cellars and basements
• Stay in a room away from the industrial area  
• Keep tuned to the radio station, regular updates will be given including the "all clear" once the major emergency is over
