Equality and Diversity
Liverpool PCT is committed to principles of equality and fairness. We recognise that inequalities in health and in the workplace exist in terms of race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age and religion/belief.
Tackling this health inequality means recognising Liverpool’s rich diversity. It also means recognising that different people have different health needs that sometimes need to be addressed in different ways.
Liverpool PCT's commitment to tackling inequality means that we focus on treating those who use our services and our staff with dignity and respect. We aim to ensure that Liverpool PCT is a responsive commissioner of health services by continuously examining and developing the provision of relevant and more responsive services through integrated working between health and social care professionals. In addition, we are committed towards developing our third sector providers.
Establishing and maintaining strong, communication links with key stakeholders, including our local communities, is key to supporting our commitment to being in touch with and influenced by those who need local health services. We have invested significantly in a Social Inclusion Team, a team of bi-lingual staff speaking over 20 languages between them and ensuring that the needs of all our communities are considered; ensuring effective engagement and involvement models; providing targeted health improvement initiatives.
Our Equality and Diversity Sub- committee is chaired by one of our PCT Chair and includes senior commissioning managers including a non-executive director.
The committee are tasked with promoting equality issues across the PCT, in addition to monitoring the actions of our Single Equality Scheme.
