Equality Delivery System

The Equality Performance Improvement Toolkit (EPIT) reflects an organisations performance on the equality agenda. The dashboard shows how NHS Merseyside has fulfilled its statutory responsibility in performance managing Equality and Diversity.  The dashboard shows performance at August 2011

EDS – Equality Delivery System has now superseded EPIT

EDS Outcomes and Objectives
At the heart of the EDS is a set of 18 equality outcomes grouped into 4 goals. It is against these outcomes that performance is analyzed and graded and action determined.

The four EDS goals are:
• Better health outcomes for all
• Improved patient access and experience
• Empowered, engaged and included staff
• Inclusive leadership at all levels

Engaging with local interest groups
The EDS requires NHS organisations to engage with local communities and organizations with an interest in equalities and health inequalities to determine performance through a grading exercise. LINKs organisations across Liverpool, Sefton, Halton, St Helens and Knowsley have been integral to this process.

The EDS dashboard can be viewed at http://www.eds.northwest.nhs.uk/
