"You said, we did" - Real Accountability

Duty to report on consultations undertaken by Liverpool PCT (1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011)

Introduction
The NHS has a duty to involve the public as much as possible in decisions about health care services in their local area. In April 2010 the Department of Health published new guidance for the NHS, which asked local Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) to produce an annual report about how they have acted on feedback from patients and the public, and to highlight forthcoming consultations. This requirement is called ‘Real Accountability’.

What’s happening in Liverpool?
Liverpool PCT is well placed to respond to the requirements of Real Accountability and already takes a thorough approach to its consultation and engagement activities.

The PCT has a dedicated Stakeholder Engagement Team who provide the organisation with practical advice, guidance and support to ensure patients and the public have a real say in how services should be delivered locally.
